HOW IT WORKS
The Curated Online Festival
Each year on June 19th, a handpicked selection of films are presented in a curated online festival celebrating Juneteenth and the power of Black storytelling. It is a communal experience open to audiences everywhere, honoring creative excellence through the art of cinema.
Quarterly Fest & Recognition
Films submitted through Film Freeway are considered on a rolling quarterly basis, with finalists selected and winners fully recognized each quarter. Quarterly "bests" then advance to the culminating celebration on Juneteenth 2027, where the year's best compete for the highest honors.
Monthly Curated Viewings
Between each quarterly festival, a monthly curated viewing keeps the community inspired and connected. Each month may feature a spotlight on an AI Filmmaker or a workshop designed to educate and empower filmmakers at every level.
The Best of the Best
On June 19, 2027, the year's quarterly "bests" return to the stage for the grand finale. This is a celebratory lookback at a full year of creative excellence and vision. From among them, the year's highest honors are awarded in the culmination of a movement.
